On 12/15/1973 my father purchased 21.3 gallons of gas for a total of $10.76 including tax. I am looking right at a an actual receipt I found. Don’t ask why I still have a 35 year old receipt either. Those were the days!!!
Gas jumped nearly 70 cents a gallon in San Fran… Now that is a kick in the rear….
Reporters, do like the State reporter with the Urinal Gazette does, have the Democrats write an article and then she will put it in the paper under her name. Why investigate anything, which would require work and an unbiased opinion.
Oil is down to 102.31 at 5:23pm. Gasoline wholesale is 2.65 a gallon. Jumping .30 a gallon at the pump to 3.95 makes no sense. But then again it hasn’t made sense for a while when it comes to gas prices in Fort Wayne. In late June I was in Houston, TX and Rapid City, SD and all states in between. Gas was 4.09 here when I left and I didn’t see gas over 4 dollars at any point on my trip with the exception of Chicago. I couldn’t figure that out especially since the transportation cost to Rapid City would have to be more than Fort Wayne’s. Mind numbing.
I agree with the comment about reporters taking the easy road. What happened to investigative journalism?
This is just plain crap. As J.Q says, oil is down and will probably close around $105.00 as Ike heads toward Cancun now and OPEC is standing firm on production.
Pair that with a strengthening US dollar and dropping Gasoline futures and we should be paying under $3.20 a gallon at this present moment given futures pricing, taxes and transportation. The high prices now are nothing more than Big Oil wanting Big Money or greedy station owners wanting some extra profit.

Not a chance. There don’t seem to be any real hard nosed reporters here anymore. Hand them a “Talking points” sheet and they go away happy.
Nobody seems to have any B…s anymore!
What is strange oil is trading down about two bucks at $104.36 and gas future is down 8.5 cents at 2.66 a gallon…..
I wonder if one of our local stations will do any more then visit some gas station. Will they push this story up the line until they find someone at some oil company that can explain this crap….
